Camp 7 - (Summer) Body Contact and Body Checking Camp July 29th-August 2nd U15 (Kinsmen Arena 'B')

Summer Body Contact and Body Checking Camp July 29th-August 2nd U15 (Kinsmen Arena 'B')
This camp is a good introduction for players entering U15 contact hockey or for those players wanting to reacquaint themselves with body checking after being off of the ice during the first part of the summer. We will work through controlled contact drills going over the importance of protecting yourself when delivering and receiving body checks.  As the week progresses, we will add speed and small area checking drills to increase the intensity of play. While the focus of the camp is body contact, we will also add skills exercises to round out the ice times and to sharpen the players' fitness levels in preparation for the coming season. Players will be grouped together based on ability to ensure that each individual is challenged.  By the end of the week, our goal is that players are familiar with the basic concepts of body checking and have developed a sense of timing, how to detect danger, how to properly separate offensive players from the puck, and how to protect themselves during uncontrolled game-like environments.
