Summer Full Day Camp #1 (goalies included) July 29th-August 2nd at Kinsmen Arena

My summer full day camp program aims to challenge young athletes to develop their on ice skills, strengthen their fitness levels and athletic abilities off the ice, and to enhance their knowledge of the game through classroom activities.

Each summer as a kid, I looked forward to going to the Red Deer College Kings Hockey Camp.  It was a grueling, week long full day camp that included being barked at by Mike Babcock (then head coach of the Kings) and pushed to exhaustion through dry land training, as well as trying to stay awake during chalk talk classroom sessions.  While the week was challenging, I loved going every year with my friends and have many good memories of the instructors and times spent on and off the ice.

It's with these positive memories that I have put together our program of summer full day camps.  We seek to challenge the kids in a fun environment and send them home exhausted each day with a better knowledge and appreciation for the great game of hockey!

While the schedules look pretty intense, we will give the kids breaks for snacks and time to enjoy some sun and just generally be kids.  For dryland training, our fitness instructors will lead the kids through a variety of strength, agility, speed and flexibility routines.  We will also take advantage of the available green space to play soccer, flag football, relay races, capture the flag, dodge ball and other games.

Camp attendees are asked to bring appropriate gym attire (shorts, t-shirts, sneakers), a healthy lunch, sunscreen, bug repellent, a water bottle, and a hat. Each day, we will award the hardest working skater with a player of the day hat. The cost of the camp will be $425 plus GST (total of $446.25) and includes a jersey.  We will cap the group sizes at 24 skaters to maintain an adequate skater to instructor ratio of a maximum of 6:1.  Parents are asked to please pick up their children no later than 4:15pm as camp activities end at 3:45pm each day and the instructors will wait with the kids until the parents arrive.
