This camp is modeled after a pro training camp for Bantam players looking to condition themselves for the coming season and have an interest in being introduced to contact hockey. With the loss of the season in 2020-21, we will progressively introduce players to contact and body checking. The first sessions will focus on skills development and conditioning with an emphasis on building a foundation of understanding and comfort with body contact. As the month proceeds, we will gradually move on to more body contact in small area games designed to make the players aware of when to sense danger, how to protect themselves, when to initiate contact, proper checking technique, and general body awareness. Through repetition and instruction, we will normalize and encourage body contact for the players to the point that it becomes a natural part of game play. For those players that aren't comfortable with the contact we have modifications that will allow them to opt out of particular stations. The overall aim of this camp is to build up conditioning, skill performance and confidence with body contact so that the players are prepared for tryouts at the end of the month.
