COVID-19 Spring and Summer Camps Policy

With the dangerous spread of the COVID-19 virus I want to make sure that parents are informed of our camp policy.  We are continuing to accept registrations for our summer camps.  In the event that any camp is cancelled we will issue full refunds to all participants. Our priority is always to ensure a safe environment for the kids and to guarantee that parents are satisfied with the value and experience of attending our camps. We are currently adjusting our spring 3on3 schedule to May and June and hoping that the program gets a start in the late spring.  Adjusted schedules will be posted along with any updates on the Camps page.

Spring 3on3 2021

Our Spring 3on3 2021 Program is available for registration! We have scheduled our season of 22-24 games for Novice(U9), Atom(U11), Pee Wee(U13) and Bantams(U15) to run from the first week of April to the end of May. Games are scheduled to be played at Terwillegar, Kinsmen and Callingwood rinks on weekday evenings and during the weekends.

Evaluation Prep Camp #2 (goalies included) August 23rd-27th at Terwillegar Arena

I look forward to continuing our evaluation prep camps in the last two weeks of August.  These camps focus mostly on skills and getting back the skating legs and stick skills prior to the start of the season.  We will begin the week with power skating (forwards, backwards, transitions, stopping, acceleration, jab stepping, edge control) before moving on during the middle of the week to puck handling, passing, and shooting. The focus of the Thursday ice time is to familiarize the players with the skating drills they will be performing during evaluations. The last day of camp we focus on small area games and applying the core hockey skills to game situations.  The cost of the camp is $190 plus GST (total of $199.50).

Summer Full Day Camp July 26th-30th Kinsmen Arena (Novice, Atom and Pee Wee: U9, U11, and U13)

We are excited to announce our fourth annual full day summer camp!  One of the most popular weeks of the summer for us is shaping up to be a blast with a mix of skills, drills, games, challenges and plenty of time to compete and have fun with friends. A perfect week to shake off the mid-summer rust and get the kids active with their buds.  Skaters eligible to register are Novices (2013 and 2014), Atoms (2011 and 2012) and Pee Wees/Bantams (2008, 2009 and 2010).

Summer Half Day Camp August 3rd-6th Terwillegar Arena (Novices and Atoms: U9 and U11)

Our summer half day camp is the perfect week coming off August long weekend to shake off that summer rust and get the kids moving! Each day the kids will gear up for a morning ice time focused on skills development.  The morning sessions will feature a mix of drills and games designed to enhance the core hockey skills of skating, shooting, passing and stickhandling.  After the first ice session and a quick snack our fitness and dryland specialist Kyle L'Ariviere will challenge the group each day with strength, speed, agility and flexibility training between the two on ice workouts.  The afternoon ice times will consist of competitive games, small area games, and puck races to promote the kids conditioning levels and puck strength.

Summer Defenceman Camp-August 9th-13th Terwillegar Arena (Atom and Pee Wee U11 and U13)

I am excited that we will again offer a D-man camp for Atoms and Pee Wees who are eager to learn the intricacies of playing defence.  The reason I get so excited about defence camps is that most young players don't get the proper instruction on how to play the position and we get to work from square one with a lot of kids on the basics. For the players that are more familiar with playing defence, we get to do more complex drills and work on the little fundamentals that help make the game easier to play.

Bantam Elite August Training Camp (07 and 08 Birth Years Terwillegar Arena)

This camp is modeled after a pro training camp for Bantam players looking to condition themselves for the coming season and have an interest in being introduced to contact hockey. With the loss of the season in 2020-21, we will progressively introduce players to contact and body checking. The first sessions will focus on skills development and conditioning with an emphasis on building a foundation of understanding and comfort with body contact. As the month proceeds, we will gradually move on to more body contact in small area games designed to make the players aware of when to sense danger, how to protect themselves, when to initiate contact, proper checking technique, and general body awareness. Through repetition and instruction, we will normalize and encourage body contact for the players to the point that it becomes a natural part of game play. For those players that aren't comfortable with the contact we have modifications that will allow them to opt out of particular stations. The overall aim of this camp is to build up conditioning, skill performance and confidence with body contact so that the players are prepared for tryouts at the end of the month.
